A Random Wednesday Conversation Starter

It’s a really hot, humid, summer day. You’re sitting on your porch. If you don’t have a porch, imagine that you’re on A porch. A nice, wide porch. Maybe it’s got a swing. Yeah, you’re sitting on your porch swing, late afternoon, hot, humid, sunny. You’ve had a good day, and you’re holding a nice, cold glass of…what?

Hmmm… either icy-cold seltzer, or a dark-and-stormy? I'll give it a try this afternoon and see which works better!!

  2. Lynn says:

It could be any number of things because I'm not stuck on just one kind of drink but the top choices would be Coke Zero Cherry or Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper. Or it might be just ice water.

I'm holding an ice cold grape soda. Made with sugar, not corn slurry run-off.

  4. Glenn Whidden says:

Beer, of course. Probably a wheat beer. Maybe a witbier, like Allagash White.

  5. New York Erratic says:

Really good half-and-half lemonade and tea. The lemonade is the really good kind you make with a martini mixer.

  6. SK Waller says:

This one's easy because I have an old fashioned front porch (my home is a 1932 Craftsman) and I do this a lot. In my glass is a Wein G'spritz: One half white wine and one half club soda over lots of crushed ice.

If I weren't on meds that contraindicated consumption of alcohol, a cider.

More in my real-world-today: either homemade lemonade (with real lemons in it) or some kind of iced tea with a bit of fruit extract in it. (I currently really like Stash's green tea with pomegranate and raspberry)

  8. Dave Pogorzala says:

WATER. Maybe with ice, maybe not. I'm boring, I know.

  9. Michael May says:

    Sweet tea.

Because I now live in Minnesota I feel the need to clarify that this is tea that was sweetened during the brewing process. Sweet tea isn't just iced tea that someone dumped a pack of sugar into.
