Talk about getting pulled in two directions: On the one hand, President Bush thinks that putting the man-woman definition of marriage right into the United States Constitution may be a good idea if the lawyers can’t do it any other way; on the other hand, Wal-Mart has just added gays and lesbians to its antidiscrimination policy. I’m starting to think that Kevin Drum might be right, and that gay rights may just be a good wedge issue to start whittling away the GOP’s current coalition.
