1. The Mississippi. It's fun to spell, it's useful in counting seconds (One Mississippi, two Mississippi), and it's vast with stories all along it, from Mark Twain to New Orleans jazz.

   Although I often wonder why our hometown stretch of the Allegany was never put to more touristy, scenic use. Throw a bar on that baby and watch the Bona cakes line up.
