Well, no, you don't. I read this just this morning, quoting a TV show I've never watched: While you get over the loss of things, when it comes to losing loved ones, “you don’t get over; you get through”.

I was going to reference the final line of The Two Jakes and make some pseudo-philosophical comment about What It All Means, but decided it seemed glib and too easily misinterpreted.
