Riding unto Valhalla

I see that Wagnerian soprano Birgit Nilsson is dead. I’ve long thrilled to her singing in the Solti/VPO Der Ring des Nibelungen, but I can’t say that I’ll “miss” her because — well, I never much considered the possibility that she wasn’t dead already. I don’t know why that is, either.

I used to own more than just Der Ring with Nilsson singing, but that was in my cassette days, and quite a few of those recordings are now long-gone from my collection. I don’t even recall any of the titles. Anyhow, the Choir Invisible just got itself one hell of a soprano.
