Cloudy Days in Paradise
Only two days remain in our Hawaiian adventure. This morning we woke up for the first time to cloudy skies. Since gray skies tend to be the norm for Buffalo in winter–a season that I find beautiful in many ways, … Continue reading

The sea and the sky above it
“It’s hard to tell the difference between sea and sky, between voyager and sea. Between reality and the workings of the heart.” –Haruki Murakami I wrote the other day about the somewhat overwhelming nature of the sea here in Hawaii. … Continue reading

“I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams”
It is, Red. It is. I didn’t want to blog about this until we were at the very least on the plane (I felt like I was jinxing it by even pre-scheduling a Daily Dose of Christmas post obliquely referring … Continue reading

Two dogs and one cat
Keepin’ it low-key at Casa Jaquandor this weekend. I hope you’re doing the same. (But not at Casa Jaquandor, because that would be weird.) Not pictured is Rosa, the other gray cat in our home. No particular reason, I just … Continue reading
The lighting of the future
My workplace continues to move into the 21st century, this time by replacing the old pole lights in the parking lot with LED fixtures. White light replaces harsh amber. It’s quite a change.

SNOW!!!
Feels like it took longer than usual this year, but it’s finally here! I reserve the right to get sick of the stuff once my traditional cut-off date, St. Patrick’s Day, rolls around (though for some reasons to be revealed … Continue reading →
