Here’s a MeFi thread about pick-up lines.

I’m not an expert on this kind of thing. Not in the slightest. I never attempted “picking up” anyone in a bar or any other such setting; my preference was always to ask out women whom I knew from other real-life situations — work, mutual memberships in various organizations (this being how I met my wife), et cetera.

Still, I’m finding this kind of thing interesting for writing reasons. For argument’s sake, I assume that my own approach would be very understated. Basically I’d say “Hi”, offer her a drink, and then start asking questions like what she does and the like. But mostly, I can probably guarantee that I’d never even go this far.
