    More the former than the latter. MFL is on my list of movies that just can’t be remade, like Casablanca, Star Wars, and pretty much everything else on the top twenty of my Top 100 list.

    I don’t dislike Keira Knightley at all, but she ain’t Audrey Hepburn!

    I see your points. I have no particular love for MFL, myself — I’m don’t really like musicals, aside from Singin’ in the Rain, which is just plain joyful — but I am getting very, very tired of all the freaking remakes. You know there have got to be scads of original stories floating around the Hollywood equivalent of the slush pile, but the suits only want to go with known brands these days…
