Oooh, any fictional? Good guy or bad guy, and do PhDs count or only MDs?
House. Great and good, small and evil, his broken soul has more twists than a curly straw.
Either him or Doctor John Smith, former consultant to U.N.I.T.
Or Dr. Leonard McCoy
Or John H. Watson, MD
Or Dr. Bombay
Or Dr. Nick Riviera (Hi everybody!)
Or Sheldon Cooper
Or Lilith Sternin
Or Doctor Fate
But certainly Doctor Teeth.
Marcus Welby, MD with Robert Young (formerly Jim Anderson, the father in Father Knows Best)
Got a non functional tv, so the question cannot be answered. I'd have gone for Dr Who a few years ago.
Just passing by on my trek through A-Z land and am now following.

Doctor Who is certainly one of my favorites, particularly for his varied yet consistent personality.
Though his soapboxing could get a bit tiresome at times, Capt. Pierce was a thoughtful and humorous doctor (and an MD to boot).
He had a minor role, but Surgeon Reynolds in Zulu still captures my attention when I watch the movie.
