(Concluding my repost of this Very Special, but not in the Blossom way, Episode of Firefly.) part three part two part one “Those aren’t toys,” Kaylee said. “Those are agricultural supplies for a new colony. Did you change the job while you were out?” “Seal it back up,” Mal said. “That stuff is perishable, and by breaking the seal, we’ve started the decay process.” The crew stood around, staring at the crate that was supposed to contain toys for the children of the orphanage on Haven but really contained farming seed and fertilizer that had supposedly been destined for Whitefall.Down the rabbit hole….

Continuing my repost of this Very Special (but Not Blossomesque) Episode of Firefly. part two part one “Weapons on the ground!” the voice shouted. “Now!” “Do it,” Mal said. He shot a look at Jayne, whose expression of disgust tended to be indistinguishable from his expression of being about to lose his temper. Slowly, Mal, Zoe and Jayne all laid their guns on the floor. “Put that package on the floor too, preacher,” said the voice. Book put the crate down. “All right, face the crates.” They complied. “Put your hands on your head.” They complied. “Stand on your leftDown the rabbit hole….

(Continuing my repost of last year’s Very Special Christmas episode of…) part one Wash put Serenity down on the landing pad, nice and gentle. So nice and gentle that Zoe complimented him on it. “You’re getting’ more gentle all the time, honey,” Zoe said. “You have such a gift for handling sensitive equipment.” “Thanks for sayin’ so, my love,” Wash replied. “But I could always use more practice–“ “All right, enough of that, you two.” Mal came up onto the bridge, fully dressed in his usual brown shirt, brown pants, brown belt, brown holster, brown boots, and probably brown socksDown the rabbit hole….

It’s a Christmas tradition here at Byzantium’s Shores! I rarely commit acts of fanfiction, but…this is one of them. If Firefly had ever had a “Very Special Christmas Episode”, I think it might well look like this. Enjoy! It’s in four parts; they will run each day between now and Christmas Eve. Take my love, take my land Take me where I cannot stand I don’t care, I’m still free You can’t take the sky from me Take me out to the black Tell them I ain’t comin’ back Burn the land and boil the sea You can’t take theDown the rabbit hole….

Star Trek Into Frustration

Well, despite my initial intentions to not see the new Star Trek movie until the DVD came out, a number of factors intervened: the fact that we went on vacation (and seeing a movie on vacation is always fun), and The Daughter’s crush on Benedict Cumberbatch. So, off we went to see the movie. I expected that my reaction would be similar to that I had for the first one, and sure enough, it was. I loved watching it. It’s a tremendously entertaining movie, expertly paced, wonderfully shot, beautifully acted. It scratched my ever-present itch for Explodey Spaceshippy Goodness, justDown the rabbit hole….

So The Wife and I took a few hours a couple weeks back to wander the aisles and corridors and back corners and nooks and crannies (but, sadly, no dimly-lit basement!) of the Orchard Park Antique Mall. This wonderful space, of which I’ve written before, is an old supermarket that was converted to an antique mall when the supermarket built itself a spiffy new location a mile down the road. It’s always a great place to kill some time, as I always find something cool there, whether it’s something I want to own or something I want to look at.Down the rabbit hole….

As soon as I heard the news that Matt Smith is stepping down as The Doctor (on Doctor Who, you buncha non-geeks), I, like everyone else, started thinking about who should be the next Doctor. My first thought was Chiwetel Ejiofor, best known as Peter in Love Actually and the Operative in Serenity. But I have now changed my mind, because it occurs to me that the Doctor is always shown as a fairly tall fellow. And to that, I say, bollocks. Is there a height requirement to being a Timelord that I don’t know about? Because if not…it’s timeDown the rabbit hole….
