Patrick Nielsen Hayden takes exception to some book reviewer’s idea that the American Civil War was a “gentlemanly affair”.

Somehow, I don’t think that the phrase “What a gentleman!” was on the lips of the people of Georgia when Sherman came through their towns. And the Confederates got just as much blood on their hands. Even I know that much, and I’m far from knowledgable on the Civil War.
