Scary. Cute can be okay too as long as it is somehow related to Halloween.
When did the selection start to include slutty Halloween. Costume stores now have an 18 and over section.
Samhain. I desperately dislike the turn it has taken to slasher murder and mayhem. It was never meant to be scary or cute, it was a time set aside to honor our ancestors and ask them for guidance.
I'm gonna have to go with "cute" in the sense of Hello Kitty pumpkins and the like for this year. Been through a couple of deaths (other people's, obvy) in the past year and am just not up for the gore or the Reaper.
The other day, I saw a tree full of "ghosts" hanging up at a retirement home. I suppose that's better than tombstone decor but to me it's still a little too reminiscent of death, given the setting.
I'm stuck with cute Halloweens for a few more years until my niece and nephew are old enough to appreciate scary Halloween.

Both! And I'm with Earl about not caring at all for slutty Halloween.
Well, my daughter has a high fear factor, so well stay with cute for a while.
