Into the mouth of madness you go!

Maybe I’m just dumb here, but is obtaining live hurricane coverage so important that the TV networks have to send camera crews and reporters right into the damned thing? On CBS Sunday Morning today, there’s one of CBS’s intrepid reporters driving around downtown Miami (or maybe it was Orlando, hell, I didn’t catch which city it was) saying things like “Look at that tree damage! That’ll take a while to clean up!” and “Yeah, there’s nobody out here right now! It’s like a ghost town!”

Sure, genius. Or maybe it’s like an oceanside metropolis in the process of getting pounded by a hurricane. There’s a metaphor for you.
