Time for the weekly linkage: :: Not to diminish Mancow’s experience, but if he thought that was torture, think what the real deal must be like. You are snatched out of nowhere, flown across the world, kept awake for days on end in a freezing room with little food, woken every time you fall asleep on your metal bed, thrown against the wall with that lovely procedure known as collaring, slapped, had dogs threatening you, yelled at and beaten, and so on and so forth. That goes on for a couple weeks to soften you up, then you are draggedDown the rabbit hole….

Our one hundred seventieth edition of Sentential Links! This occasion calls for…more links. :: This is Roger Moore’s second Bond movie, and one of his best. (Huh-whuh?!) :: She denies this, but we’re often late because she’ll take on one last thing – doing one last load of laundry, pick up a few things. I’m usually late because i just lose track of time reading. (And a happy anniversary to them!) :: The so-called “conservatives” just don’t get it: they’ve lost the last two elections and are desperately trying to regain some power without, apparently, ever looking at the reasonsDown the rabbit hole….

Clicking…. :: But does Cheney really believe that in a battle for the judgment of the American people, and for history, he will win a brawl with Colin Powell, with a man who is actually on record early on warning of the dire consequences of weakening or abandoning the Geneva Conventions? :: Hello, you’re on Car Talk. (Hee hee! And be sure to read the mouseover text.) :: DOWNER: Star Trek maybe played a bit too space-opera and not enough sci-fi (I just know that my reaction to this movie is going to be downright schizophrenic.) :: As I thinkDown the rabbit hole….

Click your way to a happier future and a head full of hair! :: I apologize to my fellow liberals for revealing this conspiracy, but America deserves to know the truth. (Crap. I was in line for my very own Star Destroyer.) :: And yet, I feel like I might live to be 500. Wouldn’t that be cool? I can hardly wait to see what the world will be like in the 25th century. :: “Artist, please draw more attention to the severed head.” :: I may as well tell you up front, so you know where my bias lies:Down the rabbit hole….

Click, or the puppy gets it. :: I think a good case can be made that starting with Gerald Ford’s pardon of Nixon, moving forward into George H.W. Bush’s use of the pardon power to kill off the Iran-Contra investigation, and now shifting toward the present day when it’s apparently become a fringe left position that the laws of the United States of America should be enforced that we’ve moved through a dangerous cycle of impunity. It seems to me that, in effect, Nixon’s dictum that “if the president does it, it’s not a crime” has been entrenched into AmericanDown the rabbit hole….

Here we go…. :: I also happen to like spaceships and space battles. I like explosions and aliens and all the nifty cliches of the genre. (That about sums it up!) :: The reason the books became so popular is because Bella has no personality and any loser can put themselves in her shoes. (Huzzah! A whole list of reasons why Twilight is shite!) :: This chapter confirms me in my strong belief that reading LOTR without having first read The Hobbit is to leave the path of wisdom. (A comment rather than a blog post, but the post isDown the rabbit hole….

Linkage, linkage, linkage…. :: So maybe the Rodent Alliance are still out there, despite the Empire’s best efforts. (So does all this photography make SDB a Bothan spy?) :: She claims that the mystical orb she holds is the key to spiritual enlightenment, but its roiling inky blackness tells a very different story. (God, I love Comics Curmudgeon.) :: You know, most women I know never use coy or silly euphemisms for their period. They just say, “I have my period.” Or, “I’m on my period.” Why is it, then, that we have a cornucopia of slang terms for, well,Down the rabbit hole….

And away we go!!! :: March is like November, but more hopeful. :: A newspaper city room was a noisy place to work. Dozens of typewriters hammered at carbon-copy books that made an impatient slap-slap-slap. Phones rang the way phones used to ring in the movies. Reporters shouted into them. They called out “boy!” and held up a story and copykids ran to snatch it and deliverer it to an editor. Reporters would shout out questions: “Quick! Who was governor before Walker?” (Terrific post.) :: What can you say about a movie whose emotional climax occurs in Salt Lake City?Down the rabbit hole….

Clicking our way to happiness and fulfillment: :: So we’re driving around, bickering, and Sarah says, “Whenever you call me a rule utilitarian it makes my womb clench.” :: The question of whether we are alone in the Universe, and even if there are other planets capable of sustaining life, is certainly deeply ingrained in our minds. This is one of the biggest remaining unanswered philosophical questions in science! :: Pics of celebs eating hot dogs. Get going. (And now I want a hot dog.) :: DOLLHOUSE is disappointing so far; it’s like watching a guy do two seconds ofDown the rabbit hole….

OK, after a week off, we’re back in the saddle again. :: There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs. :: Ninjas are for those people who think bounty hunters are the best part of Star Wars because the only stuff in Star Wars they can stand is stuff that happens offscreenDown the rabbit hole….
