Click: :: Chances are if we’ve ever been outside together, drinking a beer, I might have fallen in love with you. (Luckily I never drank beer outside with her; I’d have likely been the exception to her rule. Oh well….) :: I’ve never before seen both ends of a rainbow at once, and I wish that I had the ability to show you the entire expanse of arc and magic, lifting and sinking from the sea like a colorful slinky toy. :: I hate to think that our civilization could be lost because we’d digitized our culture. :: We areDown the rabbit hole….

The one hundred sixtieth edition! Hooray! For this edition I’m going to do something I haven’t done in a while: wander through someone else’s blogroll and pick my Sentential Links accordingly, each from a blog that to my knowledge I’ve never visited before. This time, I’m using Tom the Dog‘s blogroll. (And I hope Tom himself resumes regular posting sometime in the future!) Let’s get going: :: Maybe you would have been better served had you expressed your feelings through pottery or self-flagellation. :: In the image of a skeleton playing a guitar shown here, you can see the fragilityDown the rabbit hole….

Got’cher linkage here…. :: I’m really glad I found this letter. I needed reminding. I’m caught up in the middle of some big challenges right now. This helps me remember it’s all a process of lessons. Breathe deep and keep learning. And don’t forget to dance. (My friend Belladonna doesn’t post to this other blog of hers all that often, but this week she dusted it off for a typically thought-provoking post.) :: Before we start measuring the property for a memorial, let’s let these people mourn, then let’s let them decide. :: That’s the main reason why I noDown the rabbit hole….

[UPDATE: I screwed up the timestamp on this post, which is why it’s appearing Sunday night and marked as Monday. So I’m just changing it to a regular old Sunday post, for this one week only. It was supposed to run as a scheduled post tomorrow, but I blundered it. Oops! Plus I decided to add a few more links, because the post looked a bit half-baked to begin with.] Continuing to traipse through Blogistan: :: I listened to CNN while driving around the valley today, and it hits you when it’s no longer 50 people, but 50 people withDown the rabbit hole….

Start clicking: :: I really don’t understand how bipartisanship is ever going to work when one of the parties is insane. Imagine trying to negotiate an agreement on dinner plans with your date, and you suggest Italian and she states her preference would be a meal of tire rims and anthrax. If you can figure out a way to split the difference there and find a meal you will both enjoy, you can probably figure out how bipartisanship is going to work the next few years. (I’ve decided that I just don’t care about the “tone” in Washington. I don’tDown the rabbit hole….

Here we go: :: Yes, I watched Sullivan on February 9, 1964, and I thought the group was all right. But I really couldn’t hear them or enjoy them over all of that SCREAMING. :: Almost seventy percent of the curling stones currently in use around the world came from Ailsa Craig. (Apparently Paul’s doing a series of posts called “The ABCs of Curling”, which makes me happy because curling is one cool sport, which I don’t understand for the life of me.) :: Plus FireKitteh sits on your lap and makes adorable noises. :: Farm life is amazing, butDown the rabbit hole….

Time for linkage. Click and receive ultimate pleasure! Or just some good stuff to read. Your call. :: Since I would like to be making music when I’m in my 80s, I was rooting for them every second. :: It’s official now – I am older than the President. (I haven’t got there yet. Maybe not even the next President, especially if that happens in 2013. But I expect that by the time we get to whoever takes over in 2020 or 2024, I may be older than the President.) :: This thing took my entire lifetime to happen. ThisDown the rabbit hole….

Here we are with the final Sentential Links to appear in this space during the George W. Bush administration. Thank God. Yes, these will be political. Sorry. :: It was my original intention to let the passing of the Presidency of George Walker Bush go unmentioned in this blog. :: Thinking back to George W. Bush’s farewell address it’s striking that the best thing the man can say about his record in office is that only once during his term in office were 3,000 people killed by foreign terrorists. And it’s really striking that other people in the conservative movementDown the rabbit hole….

Here we go: :: So how do you feel? Are you’re still reading Orson Scott Card’s work? Have you sworn him off? Do you think that one should consider an author’s personal opinions or lifestyle when making a decision to read his or her book? (Tough questions, those. I was never a Card reader to begin with, but I did own a few of his books that I promptly put on eBay when I realized how odious his politics are. I think I still have his “How to Write Science Fiction” book around here somewhere; I should sell that, too.Down the rabbit hole….

AND we’re back with Sentential Links, after a couple of weeks off. Let’s get to linkin’, shall we? :: I will predict generally that 2009 will bring Buffalo and WNY more of the same. We will continue to be nostalgic for the good old days – whether they be the 1950s, 1970s, or 1890s – and we will ever forget to discuss and act on ideas that would bring about a better future for this region. We will continue to bitch & moan about the symptoms of a shrinking, economically weak region and forget completely to address the underlying disease.Down the rabbit hole….
