  1. There was a term of some currency back in the early days of rec.arts.classical-music (boy, am I dating myself now); people who listen to the Classical Top 40, or listen to only Mozart, or prefer Brahms to Wagner, are called "Rollos." Why? I never knew.

It seems though that many orchestras are programming down to meet the perceived tastes of the rollos, rather than programming things to turn the Rollos in to fans of good music.
