I haven’t done this in a while, and it’s something I do sporadically, so…it’s Delurking Week here on Byzantium’s Shores! For this week and this week only (unless I get flooded with spam and have to cut things short), I’m changing the comment settings to allow anonymous commenting. In order to hopefully keep the spam down, I’m turning back on the annoying CAPTCHAs. Don’t worry, after this week I’ll return to normal commenting procedure, which will mean deactivating the CAPTCHAs and again requiring Google or OpenID accounts. But for now, if you’re a lurker here, say something! Just a quick “Hello from Kalamazoo!” or whatever.
(Just don’t go into politics, please. I’m trying to avoid politics like the plague.)

Remember, Buffalo!
This city seems to have a fetish for old things. Well, Byzantium’s Shores is one of Buffalo’s oldest blogs, dating back to February 2002! In blogging terms, that’s like a house that Tom Jefferson might have walked by on his way to sleeping someplace. Vote for something old, Buffalo! THIS BLOG MATTERS!
(Yes, this is a capricious exercise — but hey, somebody’s gotta try to stand up for personal blogs that aren’t about the Same Old Buffalo Niagara BS!)

A Query for You Fine Readers
Does the commenting system currently in use here suffice? Or should I switch to a system like Disqus, which allows a lot more mechanisms for signing in to leave comments? Please weigh in! I’m not sure that Blogger’s existing commenting system is really serving my needs, or readers’ needs, as well as a commenting system should, and I see no sign that the Google/Blogger people have any intention of revising that system any time soon. Thanks in advance for your input!
(And for that matter, in keeping with my general new approach of eliminating snark and negativity to the highest degree possible from my life — and therefore this blog — as of this post, consider all commenting permissions restored to any and all. Thanks!)
