Only a few this week, as I’ve been really too busy to do much blog-surfing: :: Most Dungeons and Dragons setting are watched over by a pantheon of gods, much like those found in Greek Mythology. These gods are typically related either through direct bloodlines and/or marriage (often incestuously) and dont really give a crap about the world below. These “gods” are forever fighting amongst themselves, cheating and backstabbing one another and subsequently dragging their worshippers into their indescretions. :: Librarians have been told for years that they will become extinct as more and more information is made available onDown the rabbit hole….

The man is basically attributed with being the father of modern fandom, an institution that has been both the source of great fun and great annoyance in my life. Really, I hate to stick anyone with that label, since modern fandom is kind of a sham. :: Some people, maybe even most people who had a collection like that would treat it as a mere investment, keep it to themselves, and worry constantly about its worthDown the rabbit hole….

This is the sesquicentennial edition of Sentential Links. Huzzah!! Let there be dancing in the streets! Let there be clicking of links!!! :: This has been a test of the blogger ranting system. If this were a genuine rant, I would go through the trailer frame-by-frame and explain in exhausting detail why, how and precisely which details make the film look so mind-liquifyingly stupid. But to do that, I’d have to see the damn trailer again, and I’d rather watch Jar Jar Binks’s reenactment of Birth of a Nation with a polka soundtrack. (Wow! And he’s not ranting about theDown the rabbit hole….

They have not just forgotten how to persuade; they have forgotten about the necessity of persuasion. :: Remember when [Mitch] McConnell opposed an open amendment process when Republicans were in the majority? At last, the franchise returns! Hooray!! Or not. Before we get to the actual Sentential Links, let me first draw attention to this post by SamuraiFrog, which I couldn’t figure out how to quote in my usual fashion for this series, but which I most definitely wanted to draw attention to. Titled “21st Century Political Discourse”, here’s a taste: BARACK OBAMA: The surge has not worked. Everyone knows it has not worked. I intend to end the occupation of Iraq and have troops withdrawn within 16 months of assuming the presidency. JOHN McCAIN: The surge is working! Here we go: :: Add this to the potpourri of border crossing identification options available to people crossing between the US and Canada by land. (This may be right up my family’s alley; the only “international travel” we ever do is to drive to Canada on occasion. Obviously if we’d have to get real passports if we were to ever do some real international traveling, but I don’t foresee that happening anytime in the foreseeable future, so maybe we’ll look into these.) Wow! :: Ok, maybe I also thought how nice it must be, to be out on a date on a warm summer night, making out with your sweetheart while listening to Abba and that I was a little jealous too. :: She seems so tiny and fragile. I’m just about as nervous and worried as a new parent. :: And here I am, going to come in and review this thing like I’m covering new ground. It’s crazy, but that’s exactly what I’m going to do. :: Oh, and it wouldn’t be a Utah attractionDown the rabbit hole….

Weekly roundup commences…NOW! :: There’s such a thing as professional courtesy. And gratitude. (Ken Levine on Katherine Heigl’s public calling-out of the writers on Grey’s Anatomy this season; check his follow-up post too. I’m a faithful Grey’s watcher, although the show really needs some new blood, which I think might have been in the offing had the writer’s strike not robbed them of half their season; there’s only so much “Derek and Meredith, on-again, off-again” that we can stand, really. But in all the time I’ve watched Grey’s, it’s Heigl’s character that I’ve hated the most. I’ve been chalking thatDown the rabbit hole….
