I know I’m a day late with Sentential Links; sorry, folks. I just didn’t get to blogging yesterday (’tis been a busy week). At least I didn’t think I’d done it already, like I did with the Burst of Weirdness. Aieee! Anyhow: :: There are six different classes of tea, but don’t ask me to name them now…I’m not that advanced in the art of tea yet! (Written in response to this post of mine from last week.) :: Which state is the most aggressively and self-consciously themed, Texas or Florida? :: Have you ever stopped to realize just howDown the rabbit hole….

Time for this week’s linkage: :: Apparently, among this crowd, Sister Souljah Moments are only for white people. Bush I parties with Sun Myung Moon, Bush II goes to Bob Jones University, John McCain accepts the endorsement of John Hagee, and it slides. Barack Obama renounces Rev. Wright, and we are told that the taint is indelible. :: I don’t necessarily have a problem with the government intervening to bail a bunch of rich guys out when their own bad decisions blow up in their faces if that’s what’s needed for the health of the overall economy, but this sortDown the rabbit hole….

OK, time for some more links. Sorry I didn’t have them yesterday, but for one reason or another, time just got away from me last night, and suddenly it was 9:30 pm and I was starting my nightly zone-out. Anyhow: :: I know of another family in which a mentally retarded mother has two mentally retarded children she is unable to care for. Would it have been better if those children had never been born? (A question-raising post is always nice. I think about issues like this a lot.) :: Fifty-five hundred an hour???????? (Tell me about it. How canDown the rabbit hole….

Time for links, links, links! But first, lynx: Har har har! Anyway…. :: Random venting on my blog about the human race? Zero dollars. That serotonin surge of mindless misanthropy? Priceless. (New blog to me.) :: So as a public service of this blog (and you know I’m all about public service) here is a test. If you’re thinking of becoming a contestant for MOMENT OF TRUTH you must be able to answer all of these correctly. (spoiler alert: the correct answer to all of them is True.) Good luck. (I have not watched this show. The promos alone makeDown the rabbit hole….

Wow…it doesn’t feel like I’ve been doing these for all that long, but I’m slowly closing in on a two and a half years, if I haven’t hit that target already considering that there have been weeks when I didn’t indulge this series. Anyway, on with the links. Click them or the puppy gets it. :: My coworker friend Denise came in the office earlier this week and told me that she heard on the radio that 80’s music was now considered to be OLDIES CLASSIC ROCK. (You know what used to bother me when I used to listen toDown the rabbit hole….

Onward…. :: How does a coffee scoop just…disappear? (The same way ours did: without fanfare of any kind. One day we’re scooping coffee, the next day, we’re digging around for a tablespoon to do it with. Then we buy a new coffee scoop, a better coffee scoop. And wouldn’t you know it, a few months later what reappears but…our first coffee scoop. So now we have two coffee scoops.) (Oh by the way, we’re still using the same coffee maker we’ve been using since I got it by joining the Gevalia club back in 1994. Fourteen years, one coffee makerDown the rabbit hole….

And away we goooooo! :: Coming to America may be the Blackest comedy ever made, and it’s little touches like McDowell’s that elevate it past the mild amusement it seems to garner from White viewers into the upper echelon of hilarity it occupies for us. It crushes us under the weight of familiarity, to the point where a musical cue or a mere image is enough to inspire raucous laughter. There are so many in-jokes that the film is like an old Negro Spiritual: everybody can hear the music, but only we can understand the code in the words. (IDown the rabbit hole….

As I do from time to time, all of the links in this post spring from the blogroll of a single blog, and all are blogs I’ve not seen before. In this case, the originating blogroll is Sheila‘s. :: It’s no secret that popular culture today is shite. That’s why I look to the past for my entertainment. :: Marlboro Man and I loved taking drives. :: It’s hard to believe that Burt Reynolds will be turning 72 in 10 days. (Huh-whuh?! How did that happen?) :: Ten words I did not know were real words until I played Scrabulous:Down the rabbit hole….

Links, links, links, linx…. :: All in all, a disappointment from a man who promised real and significant change on Day One. Perhaps he meant Day One of Year Three? :: First of all, Dad’s doing better, to the extent that timetables are being considered for him to return home. (Good news, indeed, and glad to see that Red’s getting back in the saddle.) :: Truth is, when wingnuts see ‘Soros’ they think ‘Blofeld’. :: Food that is high in fats and starches is cheaper than food that isn’t. (This is all you need to know when confronted by someoneDown the rabbit hole….

Click these links or the puppy gets it. :: I find myself somewhat grieving the fact that I will never, ever be back at that time of my life again. And terrified that I’ll never really be ready for the future I’m preparing myself to begin…. :: Because what I realized was this: fans of movies immerse themselves in the fictional world they imagine the movie takes place in and become obsessed with the minutia. I’m a different kind of film buff, I guess. And if that’s fandom today, I’m glad I stopped participating in it around that time. It’sDown the rabbit hole….
