One hundred fourteen! Woot! Or something like that. Anyhow, on with the links…. :: Never open a book with weather. :: When you have lost hope, when your world feels broken, it is so important to remember what a tremendous difference a year can make. Anything is possible. Sometimes the universe surprises you. (Isn’t that the truth….) :: You know, all in a day’s work. :: The 3-story rowhouse at #9 Hillsleigh Road in the Notting Hill borough of London is a house I never lived in. Despite this one tiny, insignificant fact, I have some great memories of theDown the rabbit hole….

And here we go with some sentential goodness after a week off! To the links, Batman! :: And although I’ve been laying the seeds for a while, it feels like Saturday night, a hockey fan was born. (Great story. For some reason, my daughter’s first instance of hating a sports team is, believe it or not, the Toronto Maple Leafs. Not entirely sure how that came to pass, but there it is! And congrats to the BfloBlog guys for two years in the saddle of blogging Buffalo hockey sports.) :: Jet travel. Skiing. Bitchen cars and cheap gas. Triumph motorcycles.Down the rabbit hole….

One hundred twelve. That’s the number of times so far this NFL season that, collectively, the Buffalo Bills medical staff has uttered the words, “Oh, shit.” Anyway, onto the links: :: I swear, I’ve eaten half my family’s dinner like this. And I had to force myself to stop before eating it all. :: Village rule number one: You can’t employ a play on words that any Republican might be able to use as an excuse to run to the fainting couch and have a good old-fashioned cry. Democrats must be as bland and technocratic as humanly possible in theirDown the rabbit hole….

AND away we go!!! :: J.P. Losman is not a good quarterback. Or, to please the Branch Losmanians, he is not playing in a manner in which a good quarterback plays, which leaves room for the myriad of excuses and overly-optimistic yet vague statements of “he’s improving, but the Bills need to do (enter magic bullet excuse here).” (I haven’t given up on Losman yet, but too many more days like yesterday and I will, I’m sad to say. Mainly I’m linking this because “Branch Losmanians” is pretty funny.) :: I double-checked the Constitution, and yes, I remembered correctly: theDown the rabbit hole….

After a couple of weeks without Sentential Links, the world looks darker…more evil…oh wait, that’s just the NFL team from New England taking the field again. Oops! Anyway, here are some new links for your clicking pleasure! (More political ones than usual, by the way. My inner liberal is kind of annoyed right now.) :: And such is the war in Iraq as seen through neocon lenses. Mistakes are always in the past. The current policy is always working. When the mistakes are being made, those who point out the mistakes are tarred as near-treasonous. Then, after another year orDown the rabbit hole….

OK, after a one-week respite from Sentential Links, we have the triumphant return of…Sentential Links. :: Found out my unborn daughter has Down Syndrome and a surgically correctable congenital heart defect. (Scotty and I exchanged e-mail about this a while back, but I’ve avoided mentioning it here until he decided to go public, which he now has. Go give him some love. His family’s starting a tough journey. This will be their first child. And that’s not the only less-than-favorable news he’s had lately.) :: I read some interview with Stockwell – it was recently – and he was asked,Down the rabbit hole….

One hundred nine! Woo-hoo! Do you know what that means? Me either, but a little Googling reveals that “109 is the smallest number that is palindromic in bases 5 and 9.” OK then. :: I’m telling you, if success is getting everything you ever wanted, George Bush is the most successful President ever. :: We aren’t doing these things for ourselves. We’re doing them for our grandchildren. (I knew I’d been reading SDB all this time for a reason! This is an outstanding post of his, and I gotta say, it’s brief by his standards. Time was when he’d prefaceDown the rabbit hole….

Here we go with this week’s selections…. :: And if the argument is that he was violating non-baseball laws, I’ll listen to this as soon as the arguer advocates kicking Mickey Mantle and every other player who took amphetamines out of the Hall of Fame. (This is just about my take on Barry Bonds: yeah, he took steroids, so what. As for people who suggest that his record carry an asterisk in the record books, wouldn’t any batting title from the steroid era also require an asterisk? Should Bonds’s lifetime average carry an asterisk? Hell, if as many players tookDown the rabbit hole….

One hundred eight and counting: :: I swear, that ramp-up to the final battle felt like Mousecateer roll call (“And now here’s Oliver Wood, who we haven’t seen hide-ner-hair of since Book 3, come to join the fray!”). (Remember how lots of people complained about too many “Classic Trilogy” characters showing up in the Star Wars Prequels? No such complaints about the Potter books. Spoiler filled post; new blog to me.) :: Being smart is cool. Being stupid is embarrassing, despite what you see on the MTV and the YouTube. Listen to me, I’m a wise middle-aged old man now.Down the rabbit hole….
