Colored.
I am choosing to use properly accepted terms on this issue.
Between non iridescent and iridescent I think the non iridescent lights are nice. Someday I hope to have a real tree with candles as lights. Of course I would keep it outside.
We do colored lights, but I like to load the tree up with ornaments that remind me of being a kid, so the colored lights really work with all of the Betty Boop, Star Wars, Star Trek, Space Ghost, DC Superheroes, and Mickey Mouse ornaments I have.
One year, though, we decorated the tree with only those fake birds, fake apples, and a little bit of blue tinsel, and then only put blue lights on it. It looked really magical.
Colored! We tried white lights for a few years, and it just doesn't work for me.
Normally, white. This year, colored. Not sure why the switch.
My preference is for colored lights, as that is what was on the tree when I was growing up. And because in the town where I grew up, the snobby "tasteful" people had white lights.
I do white, but I see the appeal of colored…as long as they are multi-colored, and not monochromatic. I hate monochromatic Christmas lights.
Colored for my tree but white or monochromatic are okay too. The first time I can remember seeing all white lights it was on a whole row of deciduous trees outside a bank or something like that so I always think white for deciduous trees and colored for evergreens.
Call me a traditionalist but I prefer colored lights. And yet my mother–who is far more conservative than me–is using white lights on her tree this year…
I grew up with these big colored lights, yet I've opted for the small white ones; go figure.
