Where’s Tom Foley when you need him?

I sure wish someone in the Great Liberal MSM would give an explanation as to just why it is that Newt Gingrich’s opinion on everything must now be treated like it’s major news. The guy’s like fly shit: you find Gingrich everywhere.

    Because he was the Speaker, disgraced though he was, he counts on the short-term memory of the American people, and a press that acts as though it too can’t recall.

    Oh, Anon, the comparison is silly. Newt’s on one Sunday morning talk show or another 3 out of every 4 weeks.
    Al grips about specific things; Newt grips about almost everything.

    Al Sharpton has been a candidate more recently than Gingrich, although I honestly haven’t noticed Sharpton on CNN lately, so I did a CNN search for him: the Feb. 25th, regarding the NY Post’s chimp cartoon was the last time. As a known civil rights activist, he was especially relevant then — really, more relevant than Gingrich can hope to be on any current event.

    I also don’t appreciate CNN and other stations giving updates on Glen Beck and Rush Limbaugh and whomever else from the not-so-conservative wrong as if it were news…way down there with Ashton Kucher threatening to stop Twittering (gasp)!

    You are indeed correct Roger, the comparison is silly: Newt Gingrich is a former elected official and Al Sharpton was never elected to any office.

    I suppose I also share your pain Mark. While you are frustrated by the opinions of talk show hosts being treated as news, I was nauseated by the ever present coverage of the SNL skits involving Sarah Palin. My favorite was the interview with Seth Meyers on All Things Considered. This fellow’s ego is so enormous that he actually believes he is, at least partly, responsible for getting Barack Obama elected president of the U.S.

    I’m glad that we can probably all agree that neither talk show content nor SNL skits nor whether a celebrity has threatened to stop Twittering are truly newsworthy.

    CNN also covered a Biden joke at Obama’s expense yesterday (about their uses of teleprompters) and has referred to him as a “gaffemeister” before, so it doesn’t appear to be slanted one way or the other.
