I’ve been doing a bit of tinkering with things on the site the last couple of days, first tidying up the sidebar and finally updating the photo gallery. For several reasons involving things I want to do in the future on this site, I have gone back to using WordPress’s Block Editor, which I always found highly confusing the first time around. This is the LAST POST on this site! For 2023, that is. In terms of content creation, I have motored right along on this site, after migrating from BlogSpot almost a year-and-a-half ago. I didn’t really plan to skip Tone Poem Tuesday or Something For Thursday this week, it just kinda happened. There’s this meme that I see go around social media every year around this time, referring how the time between Christmas and New Years tends to be this amorphous period when you’re not even sure what day it is, and that’s certainly true! I’m actually taking the entirety of this week off this year, and after some reflection a few days ago, I’m realizing that I haven’t taken this particular week completely off–meaning, no school or work–since my last year of high school. I have updated my Where To Find Me On Social Media page. The social media landscape is in as much flux today as it was months ago when I created that page in the first place, and tonight, I’m getting strong vibes from Twitter that my time there is nearing an end. (If you’re wondering why, one factor is the presence of “Jew York” as a trending topic.) As always, this site will be the best place to find me online. After all, I own this site. At some point WordPress apparently redid how it sizes images that are inserted into posts using URLs. You can embed a photo simply by posting the URL of the image itself right in the body of the post; WordPress then does its magic and converts the URL to the image itself (assuming the hosting site gives sharing permissions–this is called ‘hotlinking’ and it used to be a bit of a Netiquette faux pas, but I suspect that bandwidth has become so cheap that it’s not that big a deal anymore).
