I’ve seen this Stuff White People Like blog linked in a number of places, but Tosy and Cosh helpfully reduce it to a list, with commentary. Which means, you know, I’ll go all listy now as well. Basically I’ll do as he did and give a “yes” or “no” answer to each entry, with comment. I’m not so much doing this because I’m white (really, who cares) but because it’s a list. Note that this is not a “Bold the ones I like” list; I bolded them all to make the post easier to read. (The original blog, by theDown the rabbit hole….

SamuraiFrog did this quiz a day or two ago, and though it doesn’t feature tagging, I’m grabbing it anyway, because it’s actually interesting and it’s a quiz. It’s about the Bible. 1. What translation of the Bible do you like best? I’m always a bit amazed at the sheer number of Bible translations that exist, and the many ways in which the translations selected greatly impact people’s personal versions of Christianity. I can’t honestly claim to have a “preferred” translation, since I am only familiar with two – the two I own copies of, as luck would have it. EveryoneDown the rabbit hole….

Yup, like a fly to a bugzapper light, I am drawn to this dull quiz which I found at Antick Musings. What can I say? I like the quizzes. (Some of these questions are time-specific, so for reference, I’m writing this at about 9:30 am on Saturday morning.) 1. What is in the back seat of your car right now? Ummmm…oh good, we brought The Daughter in from the car last night, so that’s good. For now, there’s an old computer monitor there, as well as some other assorted detritus because I tend to be very lax in cleaning outDown the rabbit hole….

I got tagged with the “123 Meme”, which goes thusly: 1. Pick up the nearest book ( of at least 123 pages). 2. Open the book to page 123. 3. Find the fifth sentence. 4. Post the next three sentences. 5. Tag five people. OK, here we go. As it happens, I have a small bookshelf immediately adjacent the computer table, so I consider every book on that shelf to be the “nearest book”. That being the case, I figure I should choose something fairly odd, so here it is: for this meme-thing I’m using The Book of the SubGenius:Down the rabbit hole….

A Weird Quiz

I don’t really get this quiz, but here it is. I snagged it from SamuraiFrog [link fixed –ed.] (and I’ve edited out a few questions that I wouldn’t answer on the basis that either positively or negatively, the answers aren’t the kind of thing I blog about). The things that I’ve done are marked with an X. (And I don’t get what the “levels” mean. Level 1() Smoked a cigarette.(x) Smoked a cigar.() Kissed a member of the same sex.(x) Drank alcohol. The only smoking I’ve ever done is a couple of cigars given me by guys I knew whatDown the rabbit hole….

Yup, here are three, count ’em, three quizzes. I grabbed all three of these from here, after finding them via here. Quiz the First Come on now, even if they won’t admit it, everyone really wants to peek in their friend’s cabinets and see what they use. Here’s your chance! List your favorite product(s) for each of the following categories. You can also expand on why you like them, how long you’ve used them, etc. 1) Laundry detergent: Arm&Hammer’s “dye-free” detergent. A quiz. About books. How can I not? Thanks to Sheila! Which book do you irrationally cringe away from reading, despite seeing only positive reviews? That’s a tough one. I tend to read on the basis of whims as opposed to plans, so I have a lot of books that are well-reviewed on my shelves that I haven’t got round to yet, and it’s not a case of “irrationally cringing away” from reading them. Books like The Corrections, The Lies of Locke Lamora, Dr. Strange and Mr. Norrell. Maybe Neil Stephenson’s Quicksilver trilogy counts. I’ve owned them for years now,Down the rabbit hole….

Snagged from Roger and T&C: 1. Do you remember learning to read? How old were you? I don’t remember learning to read, per se, because it happened very early on, via my mother. I could read before I went to kindergarten, I know that much; my parents have often told the tale of how my kindergarten teacher was kind of dumb and didn’t even realize how it was that I was apparently shouting out the directions to the assignments before she could read them to us. I have no memory of doing that. 2. What do you find most challengingDown the rabbit hole….

Since I can’t help myself when it comes to stealing quiz-things, here’s a quiz-thing from Messrs. Tosy and Cosh. Apparently this is supposed to gauge how advantaged you are when you enter adult life, or something like that. I’m not sure I buy the methodology, but hey, I’m always one for bolding stuff that applies to me! So, the items, with occasional comment: Father went to collegeFather finished collegeMother went to collegeMother finished collegeHave any relative who is an attorney, physician, or professor Were the same or higher socio-economic class than your high school teachers (Geez, I have no idea.Down the rabbit hole….
