It’s time for…LINKAGE!!! :: You probably judge me, condemn me from your ivory tower, safe from addictive substance. But you are only an accident, a painful illness, an injury away from being in my shoes. I did not choose this, I really had no choice. :: Sometimes I forget that writing is a living, breathing thing; that the story (or the poem, etc.) not only transforms you and feeds you, but is transformed and fed because of you. Erin Bow in her interview with the Quill & Quire last month said that she thinks she writes what she will ultimatelyDown the rabbit hole….

Linkage…. :: I’m wondering what others do to get inspired and keep themselves from getting distracted? It is definitely something I am still trying to do. (I try to incorporate distraction into my routine, inasmuch as I even have a routine. I should probably get a routine. Hmmmm….This is a brand new blog, by the way. I met this fellow on Instagram. Check him out!) :: So reading fantasy novels is perhaps a second best to being able to distract myself with my own stories, but at least it lets me go to sleep without focusing on the ugly stuffDown the rabbit hole….

Linkage! :: The Goddess wears her cloak of flowers, the earth is lush, fresh and fertile. In my patch of the world, green and yellow dominate the landscape. Fields of golden-yellow canola sit side by side with green crops of wheat. It’s a wonderful time to slowly drive the back-roads, just taking the time to admire the vista. (One of my Instagram friends.) :: What was the Alliance, er, network, thinking? (John Kenneth Muir is blogging his way through Firefly…as well as lots of other good stuff. Gotta remember to read him more often.) :: A long time ago whenDown the rabbit hole….

Links…. :: It is an icky story. And I can’t help wonder if 30 black and/or Hispanic kids had broken into someone’s house if there would be as much “kids will be kids” reaction among some. :: Will bringing it all back somehow allow me to let go of the past? (This is quite a question. I do not know. This blog belongs to one of my favorite Instagrammers, by the way. Instagram is a lot of fun!) :: The phrase “Where’s my jet pack?” has become an American idiom of late. It reflects the disappointment in the mid-century UtopianDown the rabbit hole….

Linkage, for them what like links…. :: I have a reasonably large vocabulary, I suppose. Some words, particularly newer ones, apparently elude me, however. Twerking and selfie have been added to the Oxford Dictionary of English recently, and I had been largely oblivious to both terms. (I am still unclear as to what exactly ‘twerking’ is. And no, I am not requesting an explanation.) :: I need to constantly remind myself that there is no reason anyone should have any idea what I am talking about. My life includes farriers, horse carts, cheese making and medieval archery. It’s about fiddlesDown the rabbit hole….

Linkage! :: I write because I love it. I create the best art I possibly can because I’m passionate about it. I obsess over word choice and plotlines and character development because I won’t give you anything less than my best. And I share my work with you – for free – because I’ve seen how quickly a person’s dreams can be shattered. I would rather give you my art, without asking for anything in return, than come to the end of my life with unrealized dreams. I just can’t wait any longer. (I saw this post linked on TwitterDown the rabbit hole….

It’s that time again…. :: Clearly Someone Didn’t Want The Saxophone To Be Invented (Wow. Just…wow.) :: In my career, I’ve been on the other side numerous times. I’ve been the one reading and judging. I always write nice rejection letters, even if the script sucks eggs. I feel that good, bad, or indifferent, the person (or team) went to the effort of writing a script and the least I could do is let them down easy. Plus, who’s to say I’m always right? I’m not. Along the way, I’ve rejected a few great people who went on to longDown the rabbit hole….

Linkage…. :: I wish I knew then what I know now – that nothing can be fixed without first looking at what’s broken. :: I was reading some old ‘Savage Sword of Conan’ last night, and it suddenly struck me what has always seemed strange about Conan as a fantasy character (and Hyboria as a fantasy world, for that matter). Conan was riding in on some adventure or other, getting ready to fight some slithery monster, and I suddenly realized–he has no elven friends. No dwarven friends either, for that matter. :: Pick your favorite liquor—the one that makes youDown the rabbit hole….

Links! :: “My Saturday morning writer’s advice for writers: try not to get hung up on writers’ advice for writers.” (I couldn’t agree more.) :: That is why I always tell authors and writers to physically draw their action scenes. (But then, this is also pretty useful, in terms of a specific technique. I don’t totally do this, but I tend to slow down a lot when I’m writing action, because I have to keep track of it all in my mind. I think I’ll start doing this!) :: Brains are interesting. Fascinating, in fact. Sometimes I think I shouldDown the rabbit hole….

Just a few, so as to feel like I actually got something accomplished…. :: Is it so much to ask that your summer series actually be over by Labor Day? (Sadly…yes, it is. Since new seasons don’t start until late September, that means that wrapping summer stuff up by Labor Day would mean networks have to fill three weeks with not much at all, when they’d much rather have their summer stuff amping up, hopefully increasing viewership and keeping eyes glued to ads for the new shows soon the debut or return. It’s maddening, but that’s the way it is.)Down the rabbit hole….
